Rushees - don't know what to talk about with sorority members during rush?  Check out this list of questions to help guide your conversations and avoid any awkwardness during recruitment rounds.  Remember, these can be used as ideas for what to talk about - make sure not to grill the sister you’re talking to!

 

About the Sorority

  1. What’s your favorite part about being in a sorority?

  2. What social events do you have? Which is your favorite?

  3. What are your philanthropy events like?

  4. What are you looking for in a new member?

  5. I know many of your sisters are very active on campus, how do you balance classes, your sorority, and other clubs?

  6. How can a member be more involved in the sorority?  How does someone take on a leadership role?

  7. What opportunities are there for new members to serve on a committee?

  8. What is the time commitment to the sorority like?

  9. What other organizations on campus are the sisters involved in?

  10. What makes your chapter unique?

  11. What do the girls in your chapter like to do for fun?

 

Getting to Know the Sister You’re Talking To

  1. What’s your favorite part about being in a sorority?

  2. What’s your favorite thing about your sisters?

  3. What’s your favorite TV show to watch right now?

  4. What’s it like to live in the sorority house?  Is it mandatory or is there a selection process?

  5. Why did you choose the sorority you’re in?

  6. What clubs are you involved in?

  7. How has being in your sorority helped you with grades/confidence/friendship?

  8. What was your favorite social theme?

  9. What was your biggest challenge when you first joined your sorority?


    Avoid close-ended questions, ones that can be answered with a simple yes or no.  Keep the conversation going by asking open-ended questions.

    Be interested in the sister you’re talking to.  Get to know her, ask her about herself, her interests, and her experience in the sorority.

    Remember, sorority recruitment is a matchmaking process! There are no right or wrong answers to your questions, just differences that will help you decide which sorority is a good fit for you.
